The African church holds and maintains the faith, sacrament and discipline of the church of Christ as our Lord Jesus Christ has commanded in the Holy Bible. The Church holds as it’s standard of worship and practices, the Book of by the Conference fir the conduct of public worship and ceremonies.
ELEMENT OF THE AFRICAN CHURCH
The African church was founded on October 13,1901 partly for the reasons for the reasons stated in the preceding paragraphs but definitely as a result of the dispute which arose at breadfruit church,Lagos between the parishioners at the time was no other person than the late Elder(chief)J.k Coker,who was also the peoples warden.

The African church Bethel and the African church Salem are hereby united and now form one organization: THE AFRICAN CHURCH
1ST CONSTITUTION, 14TH DECEMBER, 1922
Resolution passed and confirmed by each party and declared by a joint conference on Thursday the 14th day of December 1922.
That this meeting composed of the representatives of the two organizations (The African church bethel and the African church Salem) appointed and empowered to give effect to the late Fredrick Ephraim Williams for reunion date 11th December 1916 both declared the two organizations.
The African church Bethel and the African church Salem are hereby united and now form one organization: THE AFRICAN CHURCH
Whereas the African church founded and established on Sunday 13th October 1901 was divided in 1907 into two sections and was again reunited as The African Church in December 1911.
And whereas The African church has acquired land and built churches and houses for carrying on our work.
